Language Attitudes Towards Spanish and English in Puerto Rico

This article analyzes language attitudes towards Spanish and English in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory since 1898, seek to answer the following three questions: are conflicting elements Rican society? Is symbol of identity for Ricans? Does bilingualism represent threat ethno-sociolinguistic existence By examining an online questionnaire on completed by participants living I argue that Ricans is becoming more prevalent many them increasingly accepting both languages, English, without questioning or denying fact their mother tongue.
